Jigsaw’s client is one of the largest and most populated Councils in Melbourne, ready for significant Procurement improvements they are now looking for an experienced Category Manager to drive value and reduce risk from Indirect Corporate Spend.
The Role
This role will predominantly focus is on Services, Facilities and Travel. The successful applicant will lead teams to identify key cost components across categories including Business Services, Professional Services and Travel.
Work with stakeholders to define go-to-market strategies, leading price and contract negotiations and driving vendor performance management in conjunction with the business. Deliver end to end procurement projects and lead negotiations ensuring maximum commercial value add [quality, delivery, cost and usage, contractual and commercial risk].
Position Duties
- Deliver an end to end Procurement expertise across Indirect spend including Travel and Professional Services
- Grow category influence through identifying new opportunities for price, usage or productivity
- Improve and consult to stakeholders implementing new projects.
- Conduct baseline and spending analysis, validating and quantifying opportunities and communicating this to the business.
- Project manage all key projects including full tender process and negotiations, no hand holding scenario.
- Drive productivity through strategic vendor process improvement.
- Lead the operational integration of new agreements.
- Consult with and provide advice to senior stakeholders in formulating sourcing strategy.
- Maintain appropriate contingency plans to ensure continuity of operations as indicated by the business continuity-planning framework
Skills & Experience Required
- Tertiary Qualified
- Extensive Sourcing experience and developed Procurement skills within a blue chip business and essentially within the Indirects area
- Highly developed commercial acumen and communication skills
- Track record of achievement in negotiation, high value contracts
- Excellent contracts management and legal acumen
- Knowledge of government desirable, private sector experience essential
- Significant exposure to managing major service provider performance including SLA, KPI’s etc.
- Advanced excel including ability to produce financial/cost models
