Description
Over the past 5 years our client has developed a leading procurement function which is now receiving internal recognition. The function is striving towards best practice procurement and is constantly refining processes and improving levels of customer service.
The Role
This role requires a strong category manager with proven experience across sourcing and supplier relationship management. Developing internal relationships and maintaining a high standard of customer service will ensure you succeed and progress within this organisation.
Position Duties
- Engage and understand business unit needs and ensure their requirements are reflected when engaging suppliers and throughout the negotiation process
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of strategic sourcing in supporting the Group’s business strategies
- Share detailed product and/or category knowledge and communicate this knowledge to appropriate business units and stakeholders
- Enhance external supplier relationship management by delivering financial, risk mitigation and operational benefits
- Remain abreast of category supply market dynamics, trends, cost drivers and to implement relevant industry procedures such into practice
- Develop quantitative models and processes for RFI/RFP/RFQ’s
- Develop, manage and oversee RFx’s, along with detailed analysis of such
- Develop and maintain a detailed level of reporting of category spend
- Manage ongoing supplier contract performance measurement, tracking and reporting
- Perform initial commercial reviews of contracts
- Conduct benchmarking activities
- Manage tender evaluations
- Contribute to the alignment of the national business strategies with the Sourcing strategy
- Research, develop and implement operational Sourcing/Procurement or administration policies, systems and procedures
- Advise on specialist processes and system support regarding relevant sourcing discussions and negotiations
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to proactively manage problems arising from sourcing/procurement contracts
Skills & Experience Required
- Category Management experience in a tier one organisation or mature procurement function in Australia
- Professional Services / Corporate Services Category Management or Vendor Management experience
- Experience in leading a sourcing processes, including preparing and managing tenders, evaluation and negotiation processes
- Strong knowledge of researching competitive analysis
- Experience in commercial and legal elements of contracts
- Experience in a direct or a supporting role in commercial negotiations
- Extensive experience in technology research and analysis
- Quantitative experience in benchmarking of contract pricing
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Understanding and experience in change and project management methodologies
- Degree qualifications are desirable
