Description

Our client’s project is a joint venture currently being undertaken in the Central West of New South Wales. The project consists of a copper and gold mine operating underground block cave mines and open-cut mines as well as the production of high grade copper concentrate. They are looking for a contractor to begin immediately with flights, accommodation and transport included.

The Role

This is a three month contract role which will lead the contracts team in a manner that ensures transparent and efficient contract processes and procedures and liaise and influence at a senior level on all aspects of the contracting process to maximize value to the Company.

Position Duties

• Effective and efficient development of contracts (including planning, executing and controls) for procurement of specifically assigned third party goods or services
  
• Utilise global technology tool to access worldwide database to assist with opportunity identification, procurement planning and contract management
  
• Execute procurement coordination/planning/execution process that ensures client groups' goods and services are acquired on-time and on-spec while achieving competitive prices
  
• Engage third party suppliers, effectively negotiate contracts and ensure completion of all documentation as appropriate
  
• Steward of contract expiry dates, contract spend against approved values, contract administration, & contract required rate reviews
  
• Planning and reporting
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies
  
• Comply with and promote sound control practices and standards in accordance with Company standards 
  

Skills & Experience Required

• 5+ years experience in contracts administration in heavy industry
• Previous personnel management experience
• Knowledge of financial systems and processes
• Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyse, identify, and determine innovative solutions to complex and poorly defined problems
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex issues and solutions in simple language
• Preferred qualifications in Contract Law, Engineering, Commerce or similar would be highly desirable
