Jigsaw Searchs exclusive client is a leading public sector organisation with a complex and challenging fleet, logistics operation that requires a strong commercial manager to continue the process of continuous improvement and deliver best practice outcomes.
The Role
The General Manager Logistic Services is responsible for providing the leadership required to ensure the delivery of a continuous, dependable and commercially sound supply chain for a variety of goods required by the organisation for its effective operation. The position monitors market forces, conducts market research and benchmarking in order to develop best practice and innovative strategies that can improve the supply chain and reduce the costs involved. The position works closely with the business to ensure that the high volume, high value fleet meets current and changing needs. It champions the continued development of a strong service oriented culture in order to ensure achievement of corporate goals and objectives.
Position Duties
- Ensuring the delivery of goods at an agreed standard, within accepted timelines and budget constraints
- Championing the development of a more efficient system that can create new opportunities for improvement in logistics management performance
- Defining, working with and managing the interfaces between the business and external groups and agencies to ensure a consistent approach and seamless implementation
- Analysing business needs and implementing efficiencies through standardisation, improving supply chain management, scheduling and replacement
- Devising and implementing strategies to improve service levels, customer satisfaction and to introduce efficiency gains
- Devising and implementing strategies to reduce the costs of administration and operation of the supply chain
- Maintaining a commercial approach and responding to technical, financial, legal and political issues raised by projects
- Building a professional, skilled team and productive relationships with internal clients and external providers
- Keeping abreast of current and emerging best practice, Government policy and statutory requirements
Skills & Experience Required
- Demonstrated high level leadership skills in managing organisational change and developing a flexible, innovative and responsive workplace culture
- Strong business acumen with proven project management, contract management and risk management skills
- Sound understanding and appreciation of supply chain, collaborative arrangements with suppliers and service providers
- Proven ability to develop and implement best practice systems and procedures to ensure compliance and to manage risks
- High level facilitation, negotiation and problem solving skills and demonstrated success in building relationships with key people
- Proven ability to prepare clear and concise reports and submissions
- Demonstrated ability to identify and act on issues that affect the implementation of OHS, EEO principles and ethical practices
