Jigsaw Search’s client is a global market leader of solutions in measuring and process technologies in industrial weighing, feeding, screening, train loading automation.
They develop, manufacture, assemble markets and sell a full range of solutions, products and turnkey systems on the basis of combining process engineering expertise, reliable components and field-proven technology.
The Role
Jigsaw Search have been engaged to source and vet an experienced procurement professional with responsibility for managing and developing suppliers to ensure that supplier performance adds value to the Australian business.
A key focus of the role will be formalising supply arrangements with suitable suppliers through the development of contracts or supply agreements. Additionally, establishing systems to allow identification and adoption of new suppliers (in a market where historically there has been a shortage of skilled suppliers) is vital.
The successful candidate will manage the development, implementation and maintenance of supplier management processes, to ensure that commercially and technically suppliers add value to the business is part of the responsibility, and the ongoing performance management of existing supplier will be managed by members of the Supply team.
The responsibility of the role also includes taking a lead role in supplier negotiations, the identification and management of significant total cost reduction opportunities across the business and enhancing procurement outcomes through training and support of Australia employees. The position will provide a leadership and coaching role within the supply management team and its relevant stakeholders
The Procurement Manager is responsible for the development and management of supplier performance management processes for all suppliers of Australia. Assistance in identifying new suppliers and development of appropriate supply agreements or contracts for selected new suppliers is also essential.
Position Duties
- Contribute to the short term and long term strategies of Australia
- Develop and drive implementation of a supplier performance management program and processes
- Use procurement expenditure, business requirements and market data identify high value procurement categories, develop supply strategies and go to market for such strategies
- Improve supplier value / manage costs through the development of contracts and supply agreements for key procurement categories
- Manage supplier performance and value to the business through regular and structured supplier performance evaluations for critical suppliers
- Develop and build strong relationships with key suppliers
- Assist in the identification of new suppliers, their accreditation and formalisation of their supply relationship through the development of supply agreements ort contracts
- Drive the development of negotiation strategies and participate in supplier negotiations
- Lead major cost reduction projects or initiatives and work with key business managers to ensure such opportunities are realised
- Support and lead as required group (global) supply initiatives to ensure regional and global objectives are achieved
- Work with key business representatives to understand and agreed business requirements for key procurement categories
- Provide project leadership / sponsorship for major supply management / cost reduction programs to ensure business buy-in from key staff so that savings are realised
- Develop supplier capacity planning systems that enable better use of sales forecast information so that peaks and troughs in internal and external capacity are optimised
Skills & Experience Required
- Must have a relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering (preferred), Science, or similar
- Formal qualifications in supply management or procurement (e.g. CIPS)
- Proven success in negotiating major contracts with suppliers
- Proven track record in procurement / supply management (ideally in a fabrication or heavy engineering environment where make to order items represent a key component of business expenditure)
- 10 years+ relevant operational and industrial experience, with previous responsibility across a distributed business operating across several states in Australia
