Our client, a global Investment bank with a renowned range of products and services, is looking for a Procurement expert to set up a presence in Japan. 

The Role 

The business has a global procurement function in place and is looking for someone to carry the flag into Japan and establish credibility, savings and vigour around supplier relationship management in the region. The role will focus on all major categories including Real Estate and Facilities Services, IT&T, Professional Services and HR. As well as savings the targets for this role include contract governance, risk management and improved quality of service delivery across the organisation in this region.

Position Duties

• Demonstrate leadership to all functions / levels of management to develop, execute, communicate, and implement fact-based, forward looking sourcing strategies for long term cost reductions that exceed “day to day” savings expectations from the client organizations.
  
• Participate and at times lead cross-functional sourcing teams to execute category specific projects that generate step changes in cost (Strategic Sourcing) as well as leadership of competitive projects for commodity buy (transactional).
  
• Proactively identify sourcing opportunities and communicate these to senior clients with clear action plan & defined savings benefits.
  
• Actively manage & prioritize the global sourcing project pipeline for assigned categories.
  
• Use management reporting tools & procedures to report & verify savings for client controlling organisations regionally & globally.
  
• Provide sourcing management leadership in assigned areas by working together with the Outsourced teams to execute tactical sourcing projects. Use the defined workflow allocation process together with our country sourcing leads to identify and assign resources for projects which should be executed under our BPO agreement. 
  

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum of 8 years Strategic Sourcing with Project Management experience.
• Preferably a history of leadership roles in APAC within Sourcing.
• Proven ability to project manage a cross-functional team from various cultural backgrounds
• Comfortable in English, other Asian languages a plus
• Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
• Preferred disciplines: engineering, sciences, and economics
• MBA / graduate certificates preferred
