Jigsaw Search’s exclusive client Integral Energy was originally established to supply electricity to the Western Sydney and Illawarra regions of NSW and today hold licences to retail electricity in all of the regions in Australia covered by the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Integral Energy also has over 50 years of experience in managing one of Australia’s largest energy networks. Every day they distribute electricity to over 2.1 million people in households and businesses across 24,500 square kilometres of Greater Western Sydney, the Illawarra, and the Southern Highlands of NSW.
The Role
They are currently transcending from a short term purchasing environment into a long term centralised strategic platform which will be heavily supported by category management. Jigsaw Search have been exclusively engaged to source and vet a leading procurement strategist to direct strategic sourcing activities and develop category plans through proactive engagement with the business to ensure value for money outcomes for key materials and services.
Position Duties
- Proactively engage the business to define medium to long term forecasts of work, associated bills of material and requirements.
- Create, implement and monitor category management plans for defined categories. Including but not limited to spend analysis, opportunity identification, global/national/local supply market analysis, alliances/panel/partnerships relationships and sourcing strategies.
- Challenge commercial and demand requirements, assessing fitness for purpose and alignment with supply market capability.
- Recommend a go to market strategy based on market analysis and business requirements to deliver the best value for money outcomes.
- Assess suppliers’ eligibility for inclusion in the Supplier Quality Register and ensure suppliers possess the required capability, including without limitation OH&S, environmental and quality accreditations.
- Act as prime commercial contract management lead on strategic contracts and co-ordinate performance assessment. Conduct commercial negotiations in support of contract variations to major strategic contracts.
- With the business, establish key performance indicators and a performance review program for engaged suppliers.
- Track and report benefits and saving outcomes based on implemented sourcing strategies.
- Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers to identify areas of improvement and to drive innovative solutions and ways of working with Integral Energy.
- Work with groups to rationalise product ranges and standardise specifications were appropriate and beneficial.
- Provide input in to procurement policy and procedure formulation.
Contribute to the development of strategic sourcing methodology & analysis tools.
- Provide leadership and direct to Analysts in terms of day-to-day activities, research and market analysis. Assist with their ongoing professional development and skill enhancement.
Skills & Experience Required
- Tertiary qualifications. MCIPS Procurement qualification, or Postgraduate qualifications an advantage.
- Extensive (5-7 years) experience in sourcing and procurement, with at least 2 years spent in a senior category management role.
- Broad knowledge of the Engineering and MRO category
- Demonstrated experience of devising effective contract management regimes and supplier relationship management strategies.
- Ability to develop and implement indirect Category Plans defining the strategic procurement direction for the indirect spend category over a 2-5 year time horizon.
- High-level leadership and people management skills, including communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, coaching and performance planning, measurement, feedback and development.
- Experience in developing and implementing effective on-going procurement spend and contract compliance monitoring programs, supported as required by remedial action plans to address maverick behaviour.
- Knowledge of how to observe and report important supply market developments within the category.
- Capable of directing the development and implementation of strategic sourcing strategies using robust procurement methodologies such as spend and supply market analysis, opportunity qualification, cost modelling, business case development, negotiations etc.
- Proven experience in motivating and leading cross-functional teams to effectively tackle supply challenges and opportunities, often to tight timescales.
- Ability to manage competing agenda’s, departmental preferences and stakeholder expectations in order to deliver the best outcomes for the organisation at large.
