Jigsaw Search’s exclusive client is a master developer of leading tourism real estate assets within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The company is charged with assisting the provision of world-class infrastructure which will fulfil the emirate’s ambitions of becoming a truly global destination of distinction. They are currently engaged in over 70 projects with an estimated consolidated capital cost in excess of 120 billion. Approximately 60 billion of these costs are directly associated with building materials and commodities.

Our client has built up an impressive portfolio of projects, some developed under joint venture partnerships, including flagship destinations. Our clients project portfolio spans redevelopment of urban landmark districts, new-build mixed-use complexes, down-town business and leisure resorts, desert resorts and a leading-edge headquarters which is to be a showcase in sustainability. 

The Role

Jigsaw Search have been engaged to source and vet an experienced supply manager to lead strategic sourcing activities for one or more categories of spend, with the goal of achieving and maintaining significant cost reductions across the raw material portfolio (Construction). This role will support the bigger picture Greenfield platform of building a highly capable procurement organisation to drive significant value to both the business and the supplier base.

The organisation will be headquartered in Abu Dhabi and intends to drive savings through enhanced purchasing practices which will include the procurement of quality materials from alternative low cost suppliers in China. In order to facilitate the purchasing of materials direct from China, our client intends to establish a local presence in China. The China organisation will be responsible for: Qualification, development and management of China supplier base; Coordination of logistics and supply chain requirements; and Management of quality standards and activities in China. 

Position Duties

• Understand raw material (construction) category economics, develop and implement total lifecycle cost sourcing strategies for key spend categories
  
• Lead the process to select and manage vendors
  
• Provide advice and assistance to business users in developing innovative and cost effective requirements for raw material supply
  
• Work with the Procurement team in ensuring business requirements and customer satisfaction is met
  
• Drive productivity improvements, monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance
  
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of developments in the local, national and international supply markets for raw materials (commodities)
  
• Work with LCC China team where applicable to manage and monitor supplier base
  
• Measure and track performance of suppliers
  
• Manage pricing and contract renegotiations in line with changing business requirements
  
• Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures 
  

Skills & Experience Required

• 5-10 years experience, with a minimum 3 years in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing, commercial procurement and/or supply chain management
• Preferred but not required: Industry experience in construction, development, related heavy industries
