Group Category Manager – Engineering
POSITION PURPOSE
As a senior manager, the Group Category Manager - Engineering will provide leadership, direction and support to the Board, Managing Director, Executive and employees on all aspects of good corporate responsibility.
A high calibre strategic procurement professional with knowledge of best practice procurement, with a proven track record in Corporate EngineeringCategory Management. This role is responsible for implementing the strategic procurement direction and for the commercial relationships with suppliers and their related outcomes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with divisions to understand medium – long term forecast work program and associated bills of material / services related to Opex and Capex programs
- Conduct strategic procurement analysis to determine category / product criticality and value; strength of Country Energy’s buying power, supply market trends etc within the Group
- Develop Category Plans to map out future procurement strategy, objectives and delivery plans for the Engineering Category Management Group category (to include global, national, regional supply plans; partnership / alliance arrangements, single vs. multiple sourcing etc)
- Challenge commercial and demand requirements, assessing fitness for purpose and alignment with supply market capability
- Contribute to the development of strategic sourcing methodology & analysis tools
- Ensure that supplier relationship development plans are in place and executed for Engineering Category Management Group major categories of spend
- Provide strategic ‘Commercial stewardship’ of major Engineering Category Management Group spend categories through their lifecycle
- Lead and manage the Engineering Category Management Group to ensure the provision of high quality business services that support the organisation’s activities
- Share category expertise, market insights, supplier strategies
- Lead on contract management and supplier relationship development strategy and performance reporting tools
- Act as prime commercial contract management lead on strategic contracts and co-ordinate performance assessment
- Conduct commercial negotiations in support of contract variations to major strategic contracts
- Provide leadership to Engineering Category Management staff to ensure that opportunities are provided for their ongoing professional development and skill enhancement; assess develop and coach the work performance of direct reports to ensure that service delivery is effective and efficient and staff remain motivated to perform to capacity.
- Measure, achieve and communicate savings targets/results across the category
- Involvement in special projects as required by the GM, Strategic Procurement and Supply

- Contribute to the development of strategic plans and corporate policy for the organisation and participate in decision making on relevant strategic and operational issues ensuring all actions taken enhance corporate consistency, quality and the achievement of overall business success.
- Develop, implement and manage business strategies, plans and budgets for the Group Manager Corporate Responsibility function to achieve business objectives and meet statutory, customer, community, environmental and shareholder obligations.
- Promote and drive a strong safety culture by ensuring that work is carried out in a safe and environmentally sound manner.

- Prepare and present position papers and reports on key business issues of interest to Senior Executives to provide accurate and complete information, authoritative analysis, advice and sound recommendations for action.
SKILLS,KNOWLEDGES AND EXPERIENCE
- Possess outstanding management, communication, negotiation, and decision making skills.
- Hold relevant qualifications, industry knowledge, and understanding of relevant regulatory and policy requirements.
- Demonstrate capacity to successfully manage broad responsibilities and complex issues at senior organisational levels.
