Jigsaw Search’s client is a market leader in the Retail space and household name. Housing some of the largest supplier contracts in the country, this represents a procurement opportunity of magnitude.

The Role

Positioned for transformation and with ‘C’ level stakeholder engagement and support, this role will be crucial in bringing the business and Procurement together to drive commercial benefits. 

Develop and implement the annual business strategy for relevant Capital Categories in conjunction with the contract renewal cycle and drive efficiency and performance improvement.

Position Duties

  • Development of innovative Sourcing Initiatives and projects that will deliver maximum value to the organisation
  • Oversight of the tender analysis functions
  • Key lead for the negotiation and establishment of best cost/value add deliverables for the business (including favourable and robust contract terms and conditions)
  • Responsible for obtaining Executive Summary approval with key Business Vendor Relationship Managers and Senior Management, as per the Delegation of Authority
  • To perform and/or oversee any due diligence required to ensure Executive Summary recommendations are delivered with minimum risk
  • To project manage multiple Sourcing Initiatives and projects concurrently within agreed timeframes
  • To adapt strategy to business requirements and external supplier market and remain flexible and innovative throughout the market engagement and contract award process
  • Conduct regular tollgate reviews with Business Vendor Relationship Managers to ensure 100% of project deliverables are achieved in full and on time
  • Maintain highly strategic relationships with key (critical) suppliers and industry bodies
  • Engaging key suppliers in ‘long term partnering’ in order to to extract optimal mutual business benefits

Skills & Experience Required

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will have a minimum of 5 – 10 years experience in senior industry-specific commercial roles with strong Procurement background in executing strategic commercial deals relating to Capital, MRO or Engineering Services spend.

  • Highly developed knowledge and experience in end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including E-tools
  • Highly developed project management skills
  • Extensive experience working on multiple high value, complex projects concurrently with broad range of internal and external business stakeholders
  • Related tertiary qualification, ideally with a Commerce, Engineering or Procurement background
  • Relevant masters level or post-graduate certification or degree (eg, MCIPS, MBA) is highly regarded
  • Consulting background across range of procurement projects and industry sectors well regarded
  • Excellent business acumen and negotiation skills gained in major procurement projects and contract negotiations
  • Extensive experience in the development of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, where applicable, that incorporate all cost dimensions and risk analysis elements
  • Highly competent in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project
  • Superior numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Highest level of personal integrity and ethics
