Jigsaw Search’s exclusive client has engaged Jigsaw Search to source and vet an experienced sourcing manager to assist the business across electrical mechanical products and systems for the mining industry. The role will involve a high level of subject matter expertise across complex engineering and technological components coupled with solid process and make, buy sell approach. 

The Role

The Sourcing Manager brings sourcing, contract management, supplier management and project management skills to bear for the development of cost effective, quality and reliable components to cross-functional projects.

Position Duties

• Work safely, and with regard to the safety of others, including identification and elimination of hazards in the workplace, and assessment of safety within the capability of suppliers.
  
• Assess strategic sourcing options for the business. Develop global sourcing strategy.
  
• Participate in cross-functional projects managing the supply aspects of such projects.
  
• Deliver to the Production Manager sourcing plans, supplier contracts and a supplier management service.
  
• Identify potential suppliers, assess their capability, quality systems and overall suitability, and recommend suppliers for the business to work with. Once a supplier has been selected, run a continuous improvement process with the supplier for improved quality and cost effectiveness.
  
• Implement supply contracts with key suppliers for reliable, cost effective supply.
  
• Evaluate international sourcing options, and where appropriate, manage such suppliers.
  
• Participate in Product Development teams, facilitating the engineering process between the business systems engineers and supplier engineers.
  
• Maintain visibility of supplier product development roadmaps, alerting the business to new engineering opportunities and warning of potential obsolescence risks.
  
• Conduct supply management and maintenance tasks including supplier visits to confirm supply standards, review processes and integration opportunities.
  
• Coordinate alternate supplier opportunities.
  
• Continuously improve sourcing and purchasing policies and procedures.
  
• Assist in the integration of QA processes throughout the business environment.
  
• Coordinate make-or-buy studies. 

Measures

• Panel of suitable suppliers available and contracts negotiated. High quality, cost efficient providers identified and recommendations on the commercial terms to secure commitment to project timelines and supply of components to production.
  
• Cost reductions achieved.
  
• Development/Supply contracts in place, monitored and managed.
  
• Quality measured and assurance applied to the supply so that sourced components are error free and on time.
  
• International sourcing plans implemented.
  
• Manage and maintain the suppliers to ensure the business gains the best sustainable effect.
  
• Advise management of supplier SWOT and offer strategic plans to gain advantage.
  
• Employ and develop strategy for continuous improvement of supplier response, cost and depth.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
• Highly motivated individual, able to set priorities and meet deadlines, and be a strong team player
• Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
